Are you looking for a new way to get outdoors and active or find something you can enjoy together with the family? If the answer is yes, Bolton Sailing Club is inviting you and your family to come and try sailing on Saturday 5th May.
Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to get back on the water, RYA Push the Boat Out which takes place throughout May is the perfect time to give it a go.
Sailing can be as physical or as relaxing as you want to make it, you can sail with others or on your own, do it competitively or potter about and just enjoy the gentle escape of being outside in the elements.
You can book a slot via Eventbrite, or just turn up on the day if you don’t mind waiting.
Is there a minimum age to come for a sail?
This event is open to children and adults. There is a minimum age of 8 years old for children. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event to supervise their children whilst ashore.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring warm clothing to wear in the water, and a towel and change of clothing/footwear in case you get wet. We will provide a buoyancy aid for you to wear in the boat.
How much does the event cost?
This is a free event. We’ll happily discuss membership of the club and training opportunities on the night.
Do I need to be able to swim?
This is not a requirement because buoyancy aids must be worn by all participants at all times whilst on a water or on the jetty. We will do our best not to capsize during the taster session, but there will be safety boats on standby just in case.
What if the weather is bad?
Sailing is dependent on the strength of the wind. If there is absolutely no wind we cannot sail for obvious reasons and the open day may have to be postponed. Again if the wind is very strong then, for safety reasons, the open day may also have to be postponed. If this is the case, we’ll give you advance notice via the email address you register with.
