Hi, a quick note regarding recent developments at the sailing club:
Under new management!
As some of you may know the Flag officers changed at the AGM last Sunday, Keith Roberts was elected as Commodore, Warren Price moved up to Vice Commodore and we have a new member of the team as Rob Paul joins us as Rear Commodore.
Bolton sailing club is back in business!
I have just received notification from United Utilities that the Government Reservoir Engineer has finally signed off the Spillway work which will allow the reservoir to be fully refilled and allow the water level to come back to the top with any water managed via run off over the spillway. Additionally now that the compensation water rate has been permanently reduced from 12Mg/l to 9Mg/l per day the reservoir should stay full for longer and in dry periods should fall at a slower rate. The work on the berm to cut a channel will allow us to run/reach between Farm and Naze and allow additional courses to be used.
Working parties will commence this Sunday 27th February at approx. 10:00hrs, when all those jobs that we normally don’t have time to do during the sailing season need attention. No matter what skills you have they can be utilised. Jobs including work on the dinghy park, cleaning safety boats general cleaning and painting will be needed. See the boards on arrival and the Bosun will allocate a task you would like to tackle. Also a note from the Bosun, he has been looking at the mast rack and would advise any members who have a mast on the rack to either move it or identify it as any surplus masts will be disposed of. (You have been warned).
This has been organised for Saturday evening 26th March and will be advertised shortly.
First day of sailing
The new season commences on the 27th of March and we are organizing a kick start your sailing morning to get you in the swing of racing. So let either Richard or me know you would like to come along and we will put you on the list.
The subscription renewal forms are in the process of being prepared so you should be receiving them shortly.
So here’s to a good season and I look forward to seeing you all around the club and on the water.
