Whilst this could be visitors during events, or villagers walking by the reservoir, the club would like to remind members regarding the policy of dogs at the club as found in the handbook (Copy available online at http://sail-org-uk.stackstaging.com/2011/05/04/members-handbook-available-to-download/).

Bolton SC By-law 6: “Dogs and other animals are not allowed upon the Club premises unless strictly confined to their owner’s cars.”

Dear Keith,

It has been brought to my attention that the issue of dogs on site at Bolton SC is an ongoing one. Concern has been expressed that at least two dogs were seen this weekend along the shore line from the club facilities. Given that we are in the midst of the bird breeding season and Belmont being renowned for its wader and gull populations this is not acceptable.

The Company, and in particular myself, appreciates the trouble that members take to protect the breeding bird colony and reduce the fish poaching problem and would not like to see any ill feeling due to a minority of members failing to adhere to the clause relating to dogs. There is no issue with dogs in vehicles provided they are exercised offsite (that is beyond the access point from the A675, the bird hide area is not available for dog walking) and members are reminded to clean up after their dogs as the local community is currently working with the Blackburn with Darwen dog wardens to clean up the village and its environs of dog fouling.

Should you wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me on the mobile number listed below.
