Over 80 pupils with learning and physical difficulties and 12 of their staff, enjoyed the thrill of sailing at Bolton Sailing Club in their annual Sailing Week. Groups of children and staff from a special school in Pendle visited the sailing club for half a days sailing for a week. This years event was held in July, the weather was very kind to the sailors, bright sunshine, plenty of water, a brisk breeze and best of all no rain!
Over a dozen volunteers from the sailing club gave their time to take the children sailing in a variety of sailing and power boats. Without the volunteers commitment and enthusiasm this opportunity would not have taken place. For many of the children from the special school this would have been their first sailing experience and their reaction to being on the water was wonderful to see, pure enjoyment . Their smiles told the story more than any words could. The week was a great success for all, great weather, good sailing and most important of all lots of happy smiling children.
