For once the sun shone on the pupils of Pendle Community High School as they came to Bolton Sailing Club for their annual Sailing Week. With temperatures in the mid to high 20s  and light winds it was ideal conditions to ensure that every pupil regardless of their disability to participate in the sailing. Twelve members of BSC volunteer ranging in age from 16 to 76 offered to help during week and these were joined by Ricky Knights from Elton Sailing Club who very kindly offered to bring his large Rib. All the volunteers looked resplendent in their OnBoard T-shirts.  Ricky and his rib provided the wow factor for the pupils as they re enacted the famous scene from the film Titanic, arm outside on the bow, fortunately we had no icebergs only a number of Access Dinghies slowly moving gracefully around the reservoir. With each classes coming for half a day and  rotating at lunchtime , the week was full on with over 120 staff and pupils experiencing sailing some for the first time. One of the highlights of week was get two profoundly disabled young people safely on the water with big smiles! All the pupils were very appreciative of the care, support and help they received from the volunteers .  The week was only possible thanks to the members of the club who volunteered.   Thanks a million.
