Bolton S.C. entered two teams into the 2013 Event.  Both teams gave a very good account of themselves and everyone involved should be proud of the contribution they made to an excellent team effort.

Our teams finished fourth and twenty eight out of sixty one finishers.

As well as finishers’ plaques both teams won their respective first in flight prizes. The “A” team also won both the Commodore’s Prize (fourth overall) and the Lancashire Evening Post Trophy (first Lancashire boat).  A good haul!

The “A” team completed 84 laps with an average time of  17mins 20secs.  Starting in 14th position they sailed to 5th position in the first lap.  They held second place for an hour in late afternoon  but were pulled back to fourth. They were in a close contest with Midland SC for much of the race before pulling away in the closing stages to finish a very respectable fourth.

The “B” team completed 75 laps with an average time of  19mins 09secs.  Starting in 50th position they pushed themselves to 28th position by their 28th lap.  Later they fell back slightly to 31st before recovering in the closing stages to end in 28th place.

Conditions were variable but with no extremes and only occasional showers.

The overall winner was South Staffs followed by Budworth “A” and Derwent SC.  The event was well attended and was enjoyed by all present.

Very well done to all involved.
