We’re very pleased to announce that Bolton Sailing Club has been awarded the RYA Sailability Team of the Year at the recent National Sailability Awards at Wyboston Lakes.

Huge well done to all the team for making us the best in the country!

This was primarily for the best team in the UK for getting disabled people out on the water, and for the way we supported an extremely disabled and wheel chair bound new member who’s never been on the water before and thought it wouldn’t be possible for him to be able to sail. We then went one step further by adapting a chin piece so he can sail on his own, and in his first season sailed on his own!

It is an amazing accomplishment and even though we didn’t think we would win because there are much bigger and well funded clubs with more experience down south we won!!!!.

I think having a team and a club like BOLTON SAILING CLUB who go above and beyond to make anyone able to enjoy sailing deserves to be credited, and now being officially recognised by the RYA as the best team in the UK I couldn’t be more proud.

Unfortunately for the team it was the clubs awards night the same night so the rest of the team was at BSC and so even though i picked up the award there are a few more people that deserve credit .

Our chief instructor Warren Price & wife Julie Price, who started the group, and Lenn Nuttall, Geoff Benson, John Moulton, and all our fantastic volunteers who without their help would never have become what we are, and of course our club who without their support and backing this wouldn’t be possible.
